Kevin Maurer


Kevin Maurer is an award-winning reporter who has covered the military, with a focus on special operations forces, for eight years. He has been embedded with the U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa. Maurer covered the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan's first parliamentary election. Most recently, he spent ten weeks with a Special Forces team in southern Afghanistan. Maurer's first book about a battle near Kandahar was published in June 2011 by Bantam Books and he co-wrote a memoir of a Korean War veteran that released in paperback that October by Berkley Books. His third book, about a team of Green Berets in Afghanistan, will be published was March 2012 and a his fourth book about his travels in Afghanistan in 2011 will be published by Berkley next year. He and his writing partner Mitch Weiss are currently working on a book about how the Green Berets trained the Bolivians to hunt down Che Guevara in the 1960s.
