“DC’s kick-ass writer extraordinaire… Simone is known for not only being an exceptional writer, but also a wonderful person”

From fan to a following, Gail Simone went from being a hairdresser with a fansite called Women in Refrigerators, an effort to list the many women in comic books who met a violent end, to being a fan favorite writing for DC Comics. She got her start with Bongo Comics, penning issues of The Simpsons comics, and broke into the mainstream with a run on Deadpool for Marvel.

With DC, she’s brought palpable life and energy to a number of popular comics, like “Wonder Woman,” “Birds of Prey” and “Secret Six.” She’s worked on projects including Superman title “Action Comics,” “Villains Unlimited” and “Teen Titans.” In 2005, she also started writing for DC’s animated shows, including the Justice League, Wonder Woman and Batman. Under the Wildstorm imprint, Gail co-created the awesome “Welcome to Tranquility,” a comic book series about a town where superheroes and villains have retired. These days, when she isn’t being one of the most prolific Tweeters on Twitter, she’s hard at work on the relaunch of “Firestorm.”

For me and my graphic novel aspirations, Gail Simone's presentation is a "must see!"
Crossroads has done it again, bringing in writers from a variety of genres to uplift the hopes and dreams, as well as deal reality checks, to everyone who's ever dreamed about or worked toward becoming a published author. See you there!
